It is with great pleasure that today we announce the addition of two new wineries to the Vehrs family. Please join me in welcoming Clos du Val and Palencia Wine Company to our portfolio!
Clos du Val
A true legend from the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley, Clos du Val produced its first vintage in 1972, and have held a cherished place on wine lists and store shelves across the country ever since. Today, however, the winery enters a new stage of life in its 45th vintage. No longer using any purchased fruit, all the red wines of Clos du Val are now entirely from the Stags Leap Estate while the Chardonnay is comprised entirely of Carneros fruit. The results are stunning and bring this Napa icon to life for yet another generation of wine drinkers.
Palencia Wine Company represents the new blood of the Washington wine business. Victor Palencia, best known as winemaker for Jones of Washington, has been named amongst the Top 40 Under 40 Winemakers by Wine Enthusiast magazine earlier this year, while Palencia Wine Company itself has been tagged as a Winery to Watch. In fact, in the 2016 Top 50 Washington Wines from Sean Sullivan, Victor produced 3 of the 50, with two under the Palencia label. While the Palencia labels focus on small production vineyard-specific wines, the accompanying Monarcha labels are designed as bang for the buck everyday drinkers. No matter which route you go, you can be sure that the quality far exceeds the price!
We will have wines from both of these wineries in stock sometime next week along with more detailed information on the wineries, winemakers, and pricing. But for now, once again, we offer a warm welcome to Clos du Val and Palencia Wine Company!
